SONA design competition – Children’s center for the differently-abled

2021

Team LMS achieved a remarkable second position in the “Children’s Center for the Differently-Abled” building design competition, a collaborative effort organized by the Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA) and the Spinal Cord Injury Network Nepal (SCINN).

At the heart of our design concept was a profound vision: to create an environment that prioritizes the ease of movement for wheelchair users and those with different abilities. We aimed to elevate accessibility beyond a secondary consideration, instead introducing a dedicated ramp structure that seamlessly connects the two primary building blocks. We named this innovative design approach “The Mobility Effect.”

In essence, our design seeks to break down barriers, empowering every individual to access and experience public spaces without hindrance. This competition marked a significant milestone in our journey towards creating inclusive and accessible environments for all.
